The fabric is composed of acetate, and is a heavier, thicker, more luxurious satin than the polyester satins.

It is a more delicate fabric than more commonly used sheeting materials, and it is vulnerable to abrasion. It is not intended for everyday use, and will wear much more quickly than other fabrics. It has two definite sides to it.

The correct or "top" side is frictionless and bears a strong luster.
